The design Story:
The tiger sketch design draws inspiration from the Chinese zodiac sign of the tiger, which is considered the king of all animals in Chinese culture. It symbolises strength, bravery, and the ability to ward off evil spirits. 
The ESC key and keychain featured a metal symbol called the hǔfú in ancient China, shaped like a tiger. This symbol represented the military power, and possessing it granted the right to dispatch troops. The hǔfú was divided into two halves, each with an inscription on the back. The army could only be deployed when the two halves matched together. Military commanders held one half, while the imperial court stored the other, with each troop having its corresponding hǔfú.

In Chinese painting, tigers are often depicted in two positions: climbing up or descending a hill. The upward position typically includes pine branches and a moon, conveying the viewer a sense of calm and tranquillity. Conversely, the downhill pose portrays the tiger as ready to hunt and is accompanied by snowed rocks to emphasise the animal's strength. It is thought that this painting can ward off evil spirits.
